College kids have insurance DURING the school year only. What about summer 7s & playing on club teams? Why wouldn't they want to assist the grown men/women on their team w coverage for the cost of a couple of beers?! This is a TEAM sport! What the hell is the matter with you people? Don't you want to see all of your teammates covered? What about the Dad who gives hours upon hours to his team full of college kids, as the team veteran that keeps them in the competition? Some team players you guys are!$10 is too much to ensure ALL USA Rugby players have coverage in the case of a serious injury? What about the covered college kid (mommy n daddy pays for) who breaks the neck of a father of 4 by accident in a game-how would he feel if that veteran couldn't pay the cost of his emergency room visit or care? A pitcher of beer is more than that for Goodness sake! Shocking Team players! GREAT MOVE USA RUGBY..I've been waiting a long time for this to happen...

No wonder USA rugby cannot advance when there is such bickering within the ranks about any measures taken to improve the safety and security of players. Does it ever occur to people that many players may have primary insurance but the benefits are not thsta good, or that losing ones job usually means losing insurance cover for the whole family? I thought the great life lesson rugby offers players is that being part of a team is good and that sometimes we accept and respect decisions which may not benefit us directly but will be in the interest of other members of the team who may not be in such a solid financial situation as ourselves. And for 10 bucks a year?

Largest pool paying into CIPP is college and high school players. Colleges/universities require accident/medical insurance, so a policy is included with your tuition if needed. High school kids should be covered through their parents. So, the biggest group probably doesn't need this. My question is why not opt-in and why not show the true cost. I think it is 3 to 5 dollars for 100K people. The rest is profit taking from dues/fees.

How does a college club benefit? Nearly all college require all students to have insurance and most schools carry accident insurance for athletes. This is simply a raise in dues. I like the idea of USA Rugby offering insurance I don't like the idea of them forcing it on us. I have very good insurance already I don't need more.

You people are idiots. Information about this has been circulated at least twice now along with how to contact your congress rep to voice your opinion and questions. This is an incredible benefit to anyone, anyone, club, college, high school, who plays rugby and gets injured. Do your homework or else you just sound like one of those idiots that will complain about anything. This is progress...understand and get on board or go away and take up some other sport.

Economy down, dues up? So club players that are already required to have medical insurance are paying the vast majority of this policy in exchange for college players to receive insurance? What representation did club teams have in this decision-making? This is complete BS.

Is someone going to explain why this isn't an opt-in program, but instead a mandated insurance program? Or, what the real cost per person is for this coverage? Looks like a tax on the membership. My guess is the coverage is costing 3 to 5 dollars per person (i.e. $300K to $500K to cover 100K members) and the rest ($500K to $700K) is profit to run USA Rugby because they are broke. Can we have some transparency please? Can we have a rugby media that holds our governing body's feet to the fire on how they raise funds and what they spend it on?
