@tfr I'm not saying there are not D1 teams that could compete in the Super League and even win games. I am saying, that all across the board the superleague is a higher level of rugby. Take a look at the NERFU D1 teams and the East Cost Super League teams that I listed in my previous comment and tell me which schedule is tougher. Believe me, I played both seasons and there is no comparison in the level of play. If you want to really get into it, look at the scores that Boston had in the past 2 seasons. In the fall 341 points for, 60 against. In the spring 169 points for, 147 against.

@Dave Prell: How did you feel about playing teams like Washington and Philly-Whitemarsh back in the day? The Wolfhounds and Mystic are way better than those two clubs were by far. Neither RSL or D1 is perfect, but to pretend all the best teams are in the RSL, or that top D1 teams are somehow inferior to RSL teams, is ridiculous.

Anyone who thinks the Superleague and D1 are comparable is joking themselves. I play for Boston, in the fall we play in the NERFU D1 competition. Here is a list of the teams: Boston, Mystic, BIW, White Plains, Amoskeag, New Haven, South Shore. In the spring we play the following teams in the Superleague: Old Blue, NYAC, LIFE, Griffins, Lions. Mystics and BIW are good competition, but team for team, there is no comparision between the two leagues.

dannyboy...follow any league play for awhile and the farther a team has to travel, the harder it is to: have players get time off from work pay for the travel deal with time differences etc, etc RSL is a big commitment especially for those 1st two issues. it is a good level of play but is it the best model? maybe not

Oh, yeah... because Philadelphia-Whitemarsh, Washington RFC, etc. have just been TEARING IT UP since leaving the RSL. Pfffft. Also from the RSL playbook... St. Louis Bombers... slowly getting better again, but playing in D2, and didn't make the National 16. Charlotte... didn't impress anyone this year or make the National 16. Kansas City Blues... didn't make the National 16. OMBAC... didn't make the National 16. Santa Monica Dolphins... didn't make the National 16. Potomac Athletic Club... lost to non-RSL Palmer. Belmont Shore... lost to non-RSL Glendale. Aspen... no longer exists (for 15s). Also, the Denver Barbarians and Dallas Harlequins lost to D1 teams this year, and others likely did too. The RSL might have the top 8 teams in the country or so, but the illusion that it represents top-level rugby is ridiculous/hilarious.

Mr. B, i think that is an ignorant statement. RSL players do CIPP, but receive $000.00 funding from USA Rugby. if nothing else, you should love collecting it! Next, didn't the BIW go like 1-12 in their final 2 seasons in the RSL, now they are one of the best D1 teams? Finally, just look at their own words: “and when you get to the final four you tend to be competing with teams who are in or about Super League level, whereas that isn’t always the case in the regional qualifiers,” he said. “I think the whole standard of rugby is another step forward and closer to the Super League level." RSL is still the best level of play in the country. Look at the teams dropping out going on to win/compete for the D1 National Championship. Good luck to the BIW! Good team and good dudes.

IN 1 year we we look back at the stupid leage as a 10+ year waste of CIPP dues, what a bahimious freak'n joke. I promise U, by no means am I wolfhounds fan. but they should be looked at as a model for things to come
