| Rutgers into Empire, Out of DI-A |
| Colleges - College DI-A |
|
Rutgers has been accepted into the Empire Rugby Conference. The Scarlet Knights, along with Army's developmental side, will make the Empire an 11-team league, which will employ a 10-match home-or-away schedule. Rutgers joins Texas A&M as teams that have exited DI-A following the 2012 season. Rutgers finished 0-6 in Rugby East this season and managed just one win in two years of DI-A play. While the Mid-South appears to be crumbling, the Rugby East has a chance to remain strong, with several teams remaining committed to DI-A. Stay tuned to RUGBYMag for DI-A updates. A DI-A coaches meeting has been scheduled for June 23rd in Houston, the same place and time the Eagles take on Italy at BBVA Compass Stadium. |
