Life Holds Off ASU
Colleges - College DI-A

Life University put in a superb defensive performance to defeat Arkansas State 30-14 Saturday in D1-A Mid-South play in Marietta, Ga.

Life got another excellent kicking day from fullback Joe Cowley, and three tries to ASU's one.

The key moment in the game came with about 20 minutes to go. With the score 13-9 in Life's favor, Arkansas State was right on the Life line. The Running Eagles defense held and forced a scrum. From that scrum Cowley booted a massive kick downfield. He was adjudged to have suffered a late hit on the kick, and so Life got a penalty 50 meters downfield in ASU territory.

From there Cowley kicked to the corner, and after some pressure a penalty turned what could have been a lead-changing try for ASU turned into three points for Life. With that momentum the Running Eagles bashed in a try from No. 8 Cam Dolan and took control of a tight, very physical game.
