CWU Past Davis
Colleges - College DI-A

Central Washington University opened their D1-A schedule with a 39-5 victory over UC Davis Saturday in Ellensburg, Wash.

The Wildcats dominated field position throughout the 1st half and applied pressure to the Davis set piece. But while CWU was solid in constructing their offense, they actually scored their first try off an interception – Alex Reher going the distance for the Wildcats.

Midway through the first half CWU started getting it going. They added a penalty from Matt Lobe and then tries from Zack Way, Paul Smith and Tanner Barnes. Lobe converted two and suddenly it was 27-0 Central.

Stung by the flurry of tries Davis roared back with their best sequence of the day, pinning CWU back and scored a nicely-taken try to make it 27-5.

But Central was in control. They scored off a lineout, with lock Sean Wanigesekerra catching the ball in the lineout and then slipping through the defense for a try at 66 minutes.

One more try, this one from No. 8 Matt Murphy, put the game away.
