Twelth-ranked Arizona State has beaten #10 Arizona 38-15 in an impressive display Saturday night at the Arizona State University soccer stadium in Tempe.
The visiting team entered the game without perhaps their most celebrated player, as Peter Tiberio is with the USA 7s team in Hong Kong. However, one player would have been hard-pressed to reverse this decision.
Arizona suffered an early yellow card that put them on the back foot, but the difference wasn't too big at halftime, 11-3 for the Sun Devils.
Arizone edged closer in the second half thanks to a try from Mike Getzler, which he converted. But a minute later Joe Zurek scored for Arizona State and as the half wore on the Sun Devils started to pull away.
“They simply outplayed us,” Arizona head coach Dave Sitton said.
Arizona State improves to 2-1. Arizona drops to 1-1.
