CWU Shuts Out Oregon
Colleges - College DI-A

Central Washington put up 64 unanswered points against an improving Oregon side Saturday in Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference action.

CWU scored three tries in the first 14 minutes, from Cliff York, Pat Farrell and Paul Smith, to put the game away early.

Head Coach Bob Ford wasn't pleased to see several promising early attacks fall short thanks to knock-ons. But the Wildcats straightened things out later in the first half, capping off good multi-phase movements with tries from Ryan Hamilton, and Paul Smith.

In the second half Central ran in tries from Matt Lobe, Beau Nichols, Colin Robinson, Hamilton, and Ryan Snider. Aaron Lee was 6-9 on the day for conversions while Hamilton added another kick.

“This was a good match for us to try out some new combinations and to see how well we were mentally focused," said Ford. "We have to close the gap on some mental lapses but all in all we are defiantly moving forward.”

Central has their first home game of the year next Saturday as they host Western Washington.
