USA Head Coach Mike Tolkin has named his squad for Tuesday night’s ARC clash with the Canada Selects. Tolkin has made a few changes, trying to get more of a look at some players. Stand Moaali steps in to start at hooker, with Derek Asbun sitting out with a sprained ankle. Tony Purpura comes in to start at tighthead prop, with Zach Fenoglio going to the bench as cover at prop and hooker. Nick Wallace returns as the start at loosehead. Nick Civetta replaces Tom Katzfey at lock, with Katzfey going to the bench. Civetta partners with Graham Harriman. Tolkin’s only changes in the back row is to move two players around. John Quill stays at openside flanker, but Cam Dolan will suit up at No. 8 and Taylor Mokate will move from No. 8 to blindside flanker. Dolan retains the captaincy. Shaun Davies is picked over Benny Mateialona at scrumhalf, while Gearoid McDonald starts again at flyhalf. The center pairing of Jack Tracy and Dean Gericke is the game, while Zach Pangelinan moves from wing to fullback, and Chris Chapman moves from fullback to wing. Miles Craigwell steps in to start instead of Cornelius Dirksen, who is carrying an injury. Three players who were not in the 22 on Friday, flanker Eric Duechle and center Casey Clark, and fullback Joe Cowley, are on the bench. Two other players have not seen action so far, Tim Paulsen, who is on the bench for Tuesday, and Zac Mizell, who is not in Tuesday’s 22. Tolkin left open one spot on the bench and it’s possible that spot is being held for Asbun should his ankle be better Tuesday. Tolkin told RUGBYMag.com that he is looking to get some time for all players, and expects to have Mizell in the squad for the final match, against Uruguay, on Saturday. Canada also chose their squad, which is listed below.
