Serevi Rugby and Infinity Park will be teaming up next month when the Glendale, Colorado venue hosts the Serevi Rugbytown 7s August 11th. This tournament will feature eight men’s club teams from around the world. Organizers are working on teams from Canada, Fiji, New Zealand and the UK. “We’re developing a series of tournaments and Infiniti Park was a logical and natural partner,” said Serevi co-founder and Sevens legend Waisale Serevi. “We think that Sevens – with its speed, physicality and high scoring nature -- is uniquely positioned to appeal to the American consumer. Our sole mission is to grow the game of rugby in North America. Growing the Sevens brand is one way to that end.” Adds Serevi Director of Programming Evan Haigh, “We’re developing partnerships in North America and around the world aimed at delivering Waisale’s unique and differentiated programming to a rapidly growing Sevens marketplace. The pent-up demand has exceeded even our wildest expectations.” Serevi Rugby will hold a two-day training camp August 9 & 10 for players leading into the Serevi Rugbytown 7s. Coaches will include Serevi, Evan Haigh, Mike Mangan and Hannah Stolba.
“Via their participation in the training camp and their exposure to the tournament, we’re trying to introduce American players to a higher level of coaching and to a higher level of competition as well,” said Serevi. “We can’t wait to get to Glendale.”
