SEREVI Announces Next Academy
Colleges - Camps & Clinics

Seattle - Serevi™ today officially announced the dates for its second Serevi™ Academy for elite male rugby athletes. The Academy will run June 6-10, 2012 at the University of San Diego. Waisale Serevi will oversee the session, designed with Serevi Director of Programming Evan Haigh and Serevi Director of California Matt Hawkins to resemble a national team camp.

“We are absolutely thrilled to bring our highest level programming to California” said Serevi. “This puts us in the backyard of national team coaches who have expressed both support and a desire to observe. Of the players who attended our inaugural Serevi™ Academy in August 2011, six have played on the U.S. national sevens squad in the current HSBC Sevens World Series. Two of them were first discovered there. We’re determined to keep that track record intact.”

This year’s Academy is priced at $985 per player, which covers programming, room & board. The Academy focuses on core rugby skills that apply to both XVs and 7s formats. Equal emphasis is placed on fitness, skill building, nutrition and proper recovery. Athletes do a mix of gym work and running in the early mornings and typically complete morning and afternoon field sessions, during which they are supported by a physical therapist.

Serevi™ Academy alumni and current U.S. Sevens national team player Nu’u Punimata commented “This is can’t miss programming for anyone serious about competing abroad or for the national team. It’s a clear window into the intensity and attention to detail required to compete at the highest levels.”
