The Tennessee Rugby Association will conduct six state championships on Saturday, May 11, in Murfreesboro on the recreation fields at MTSU. Games kickoff at 9 AM with the state middle school championship and conclude with a 5:15 PM kickoff of the Boys Division I Cup final.
24 teams completed on May 04 in 12 semifinal round games to determine boys and girls finalists at the High School Division I and II level along with a boys middle school championship. Six teams from the Middle Tennessee conference traveled to Knoxville to take on members of the Smoky Mountain Conference at the Tennessee Rugby Park while six teams also traveled from Middle Tennessee to Millington to take on the West Tennessee Conference.
In the top boys division final, Ravenwood High School and South Doyle High School square off in a rematch of last year’s semifinal contest. Defending state champion Ravenwood is coming off a decisive semifinal victory over the Barbarians in Memphis while South Doyle scored a late try and then held on to defeat Father Ryan High School in Knoxville.
In the top girls division final, Maryville Rugby Club and Ravenwood High School renew their rivalry as both teams have historically been the top girls programs in the state for the past 10 years. Both teams are coming off decisive semifinal victories – Maryville over Sycamore High School and Ravenwood over Storm Rugby Club (Brighton HS).

The Tennessee Rugby Association was founded in 2001 and is organized to promote and foster the growth of high school, middle school and youth rugby in the State of Tennessee. Today TRA manages over 60 high school teams and 12 middle school teams divided into three competitive conferences.
