Rugby Academy College Day Sunday
School Age - Boys


The Rugby Academy will present its Fourth annual College Day showcase Sunday, October 14, 2012 on the campus of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C..

2012-2013 Rugby Academy kids.The activities includes a college fair with representatives Mt. St. Mary's, Towson, Syracuse, Wheeling Jesuit, Tufts, Mary Washington, James Madison, St. Joseph’s, Virginia Tech, Delaware, and Penn State as well as an intra-Academy scrimmage.

Over 200 high school boys, sophomores to seniors, from over 19 area programs have matriculated through the immersion program. Alumni are currently playing college rugby at schools such as the US Naval Academy, Harvard, Dartmouth, Arkansas State, Kutztown, North Carolina, Mary Washington, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Maryland, Fordham and South Carolina. In addition, two players are playing for university academies, one in England and one in France.

The Rugby Academy is an independent rugby development program for high school rugby players in the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area. The goal of the Rugby Academy is to provide high school rugby players an opportunity to develop their full potential by providing a holistic development program. Specifically, the Rugby Academy works to provide players with the tools to develop as both rugby players and students in order to go on to play rugby at university, as well to enhance the enjoyment of their rugby experience. The Rugby Academy is now starting its fifth year and has grown from 35 players in its first year to over 75 players each year. The Rugby Academy runs from the end of August to the beginning of December and meets twelve times during that period. Sessions include both on-field technical and tactical activities and off field classes (e.g. mental skills training, nutrition, laws of the game, time management, etc.).
