SFGG Gold handed Jesuit HS their first home field defeat since 2009 Saturday, as the San Francisco Golden Gate U19 team beat the Marauders 42-29.
A full complement of fans were treated to three outstanding games between evenly matched teams, as the Soph-Frosh and JVs also played. Both of those games were were carried by the home side. The Gold/Varsity game was as well played a game of attacking rugby as you could hope to find in America today. SFGG got out to a 14-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, then Jesuit hit their stride. By half way through the second half it looked like the last team to get the ball would win, as the lead repeatedly changed hands. It was not until the final minute that Danny Lalor sealed the win for the visitors by intercepting a pass and scoring under the posts. Jesuit has already beaten SFGG at their home field in Treasure Island. Both sides look forward to a rubber match before the season ends.
