For years high school boys teams in Colorado have passed up a chance to go to the National Championships, ending their season too late for teams to enter the West RFU playoffs.

However after some lobbying from certain teams Colorado Rugby has changed for this season. Now the team that finishes first in the league will be able to advance to the West playoffs, and then, quite possibly, to the National Championships.

This raises the stakes considerably in the WRFU playoffs, which has seen teams from all over the region, except Colorado, qualify for the national tournament. Colorado is widely considered one of the stronger high school leagues in the country. Now they get a chance to prove it.
