The provincial side defeated a number of opposing teams with more rugby sevens experience including the U19 All-Americans.
"Most of these guys have little or no experience playing sevens," Ontario head coach Darrell Devine told BCRugbyNews.com. "We had a system and our players really bought into it during the tournament. We really improved with each game."
The All Americans struggled to a 2-3 finish, defeating only a Utah select side and Canadian Prairies. With the HSAA 15s team on tour in South Africa, the 7s squad experienced a lot of turnover from their last gathering -- the Las Vegas Invitational, which they won. Only Patrick Barrientes returned from the Vegas squad. Barrientes was the sole All American to be named to the all tournament team in Victoria. Utah's Tino Lapale was also selected to the team.
