Overall it was not the best weekend for USA players overseas, as several pro teams with Americans on their squad lost. However, it was a big day for Samu Manoa. The former SFGG lock was Man of the Match for the Northampton Saints as they beat Bath 18-14. Samoa, who went on record saying he’s excited about playing for the Eagles again now that his contract doesn’t make it too difficult, celebrated with another outstanding game. Saracens tied Leicester Tigers 9-9 at Wembley Stadium Saturday with Chris Wyles on the bench. Also in the Aviva Premiership, Wasps won 43-14 over London Irish, but Paul Emerick did not play. Todd Clever and NTT dropped a 25-19 decision to Yamaha in the Japan Top League. In France, Castre beat Biarritz and Takudzwa Ngwenya. Scott LaValla started at flanker for Stade Francais, but they lost 30-22 to Bordeaux. In France’s Pro D2, Roland Suniula started at inside center, but Auch lost 24-10 to La Rochelle. Beziers lost 31-16 to Massy. Seta Tuilevuka did not play. Inaki Basauri started at flanker for Tarbes, who beat Aurillac 39-24. The Manawatu Turbos won on Thursday and lost on Saturday, but Eric Fry does not appear to have played.
