Reports that Todd Clever was close to signing a short-term contract with the Stormers in Super 15 were correct. Clever told RUGBYMag.com that had his agent and the team been able to figure out what to do about insurance on his Japanese club contract, it would have happened.

“You always want to play at the highest level, and while I’m very happy with my contract with NTT, to play with the likes of Bryan Habana and Schalk Burger would be an honor, but unfortunately it didn’t happen,” said Clever.
