Emerick to Wasps?
International - Americans Overseas

Emerick scored one of the USA's four tries in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. David Brinton photoUSA center Paul Emerick reports through Facebook that he has signed with London Wasps of the Aviva Premiership in England.

Emerick joins a Wasps squad hit hard by injuries, and desperately trying to avoid relegation.

Earlier this week Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young discussed the difficulty of compensating for the club's rash of injuries.

“Of course it is very difficult to bring players in at this time of the year. The only players you can really get at this point are those who are out of contract or simply not getting enough game time at the club they are at. However, we feel that the players we have managed to get are some of the best available right now and I definitely think they are going to give us a big boost going into the last stretch of the season.”

Emerick has played professionally since 2004, playing for Catania in Italy, and later Overmach Parma, Newport-Gwent Dragons, and back to Parma. He had a short stint with Ulster last season covering for an injured player, and has been playing and coaching at Life University since then.

The former University of Northern Iowa is the second all-time leading international try-scorer for the USA, behind Vaea Anitoni.
