Samu Manoa started at lock forward for Northampton and helped lead the Saints to a 32-14 victory over Newcastle in Saturday’s Aviva Premiership action in England.
The victory bumped the Saints from 6th to 3rd, although the three teams behind them still have a game to play this weekend.
In the French Top 14, Scott LaValla ran on for Sergio Parisse at No. 8 for Stade Francais, but the Paris club was already far behind Bordeaux, and lost 39-6.
Also in action was Montpellier, which won over Racing Metro. Seta Tuilevuka is still hoping to break into the lineup after dealing with injury. Kevin Swiryn was also not in the lineup, as Agen beat Brive 15-9. Taku Ngwenya was in the lineup for Biarritz, as they won 25-6 over Toulon.
In the RFU Championship in England, Shawn Pittman started at prop for London Welsh, but they went down 10-7 to Moseley.
In Japan, Suntory and Todd Clever are idle. Inaki Basauri and Perigueux are idle in the French 2nd division.
Other USA players are playing Sunday.
