Samoa’s Under 20s handed the USA U20s a 48-11 loss Tuesday at the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Junior All Americans were stung early by tries from Ausetalia Vaiomanu and Suamalie Tuiletufuga to fall behind 14-0, before flyhalf and captain Will Magie slotted a drop goal for the USA’s first points. Always chasing the game, the Americans fell behind 24-3 before Magie added a penalty leading up to halftime. Samoa extended their lead to 34-6 by the midpoint of the second half. The USA U20s notched their only try of the game after a prolonged period inside the Samoan 22. The Eagles had several penalties which they opted to run or kick for the lineout, and kept up the pressure. Finally Magie kicked a grubber into the left corner and wing Madison Hughes raced in to touch down just before sliding into the corner flag.
