| HSAAs Win Big in Durban |
| National Teams - Age-Grade Men |
|
The High School All-Americans started their South African tour with a confidence building 71-0 win over Durban Development, a team built up of U-18 & U-17 underprivileged kids from the greater Durban area. The HSAAs far out weighed the plucky Durban Development boys, but were slow to find their rhythm in the first 20 minutes of the match. This was their first match playing together as a team, and the HSAAs had to overcome the urge to score individual tries. In the 20th minute, the floodgates started to open with a nice line break and finish from Jessie Milne, one of two tries for him on the day. Before half, the HSAAs would prove they were the strongest team, with forwards Rick Korvick, Michael Bush, and 16 year-old prop Titi Lamositele putting them on top 40-0 at the break. The second half belonged to the HSAAs as they made full use of all their reserves. The team started to gel more as a unit, and spread the ball wide to play flowing rugby, building to the 71-0 final, and scoring 11 tries along the way. The HSAAs will need to improve their game for their next match vs traditional rugby powerhouse Glenwood High School on Saturday. Kickoff for that match is 2:15pm local time.
